Intersex Awareness Day 2017

The featured image for this blogpost is the logo of the now defunct ISNA (http://www.isna.org/) – in honour of Max Beck and Morgan Holmes, who protested on 26 October 1996 at Boston.

Compared to last year, the blogosphere was slightly less brimming with activity around the 2017 Intersex Awareness Day – or that was my impression as an admittedly lazy blogger recently. Then again, 2016 was special for being the 20th anniversary of the demonstration that are remembered on this day (the ‘Hermaphrodites with Attitude’ protests in Boston), and also for the launch of a major new site, sponsored by OII Europe:

European Intersex Visibility Works! – Home

Meanwhile, brujulaintersexual is active as ever, providing a variety of links, translations and materials. Most recently, I learned via this site that in Spain, legal scholars have published a manifesto protesting the mutilation of intersex people as crimes against humanity. The full text (both in English and in Spanish) is available via https://brujulaintersexual.org:

Manifesto: JURISTS AGAINST GENITAL MUTILATION OF INTERSEX PEOPLE

All in all, not much news to report after going through my blog roll – so, evidently, I should resume blogging myself! More soon to follow.
