CAT urges France to protect intersex children
As zwischengeschlecht.org (via newsletter) reports, the United Nations Committee against Torture (CAT) is about to publish its report on France; among other things, the report (available in a preliminary “version avancée non éditée” here) expresses “concern” about non-necessary surgery performed on intersex children, and “recommends” that France took legislative, administrative and all other necessary action to safeguard bodily integrity of intersex people. As zwischengeschlecht.org points out, this is the eleventh time that an UN organ has criticized non-necessary surgery performed on intersex children.
